The Tata Nexon, one of the most popular SUVs in India, is about to get a significant makeover. The Tata Nexon is the most popular car in Tata Motors’ entire lineup. This will be its second major update since it was first launched in 2017. Its popularity soared when it became the first Indian-made car to earn a coveted 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Alongside the regular version, the Nexon EV is also receiving its first facelift since its introduction in 2020. Both of these updated models will be unveiled on the same day.

Tata Motors has given us a sneak peek of the upcoming Nexon facelift in India. The official unveiling is happening today, and it’s expected to come in four different versions. The powertrain options are likely to remain the same as the current model.

From what we can see in the teaser image, the Nexon facelift will have redesigned LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and a new indigo exterior color option. In terms of visual changes, the new Nexon will feature updated split LED headlights, revised front and rear bumpers, refreshed alloy wheel designs, a new roof spoiler with an integrated rear wiper, and redesigned LED taillights with a connecting light bar.

Inside the cabin, the updated Nexon will have a revamped dashboard and center console layout. The standout feature is the new twin-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. There’s also a larger infotainment system with a new user interface, a fully digital color instrument cluster, touch-based HVAC controls, a new gear lever, and fresh seat upholstery.

Under the hood, the Nexon facelift is likely to retain the same 1.2-liter turbo-petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines. For transmission choices, expect a six-speed manual and an AMT unit. Additionally, a DCT gearbox might be introduced for the petrol version of the updated Nexon.

Tata Nexon Facelift Variant Updates:

The Nexon lineup is getting a complete revamp in terms of variant names, similar to what Tata did with the Tata Punch. Now, the Tata Nexon will be available in 11 variants: Smart, Smart+, Smart+ (S), Pure, Pure (S), Creative, Creative+, Creative+ (S), Fearless, Fearless (S), and Fearless+ (S). The first teaser confirms that the debut date is September 1, 2023, which is today.

Let’s go through each of these variants and their features, including optional packages. The ‘S’ denotes a single-pane sunroof, while ‘+’ indicates an optional package.

Tata Nexon Smart comes with LED head and tail lamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch steel wheels, a 2-spoke steering wheel design, fabric upholstery, front power windows, manual HVAC controls, multiple drive modes, and a 4-inch LCD digital instrument cluster. For safety, it includes a central locking system, ESP, a 3-point seat belt for all seats, and six airbags.

Nexon Smart+ includes all the features of the Smart trim and adds a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4 speakers, steering-mounted controls with voice command, rear power windows, and electric wing mirrors.

Tata Nexon Pure+ features full LED automatic headlamps, a connected LED strip at the rear, 16-inch wheels with wheel caps, roof rails, automatic rain-sensing wipers, a dual-tone dashboard, soft-touch pads, and rear AC vents. The single-pane sunroof option starts from Nexon Pure+ onwards.

Tata Nexon Creative variant adds sequential LED DRLs and tail lamps, a rear wiper and washer, body-colored door handles and wing mirrors, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it offers a leather-wrapped gear shifter, height-adjustable driver’s seat, auto AC, auto-dimming IRVMs, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, push-button start, keyless entry, automatic paddle shifters, a cooled glove box, a rear-view camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system for added safety.

Tata Nexon Creative+ comes with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and auto-folding OEVMs. Safety is enhanced with front parking sensors, cruise control, and a 360-degree camera.

Tata Nexon Fearless variant features sequential LED welcome signature lamps, fog lamps with cornering function, a rear defogger, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a front central armrest, an air purifier, a wireless charger, and one-touch driver-side power windows. It also boasts a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, rear armrest with cup holders, and a 60:40 split rear seat.

Tata Nexon Fearless+ takes things up a notch with a premium sound system with a subwoofer, leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, connected car technology with over-the-air updates, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with a slim bezel.

The engine lineup for the Tata Nexon facelift remains unchanged, but there will be changes in the gearbox options. It will still be powered by a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission options. The 1.5-liter diesel engine will continue to be paired with 6-speed manual and AMT transmission choices.

Note: The details mentioned earlier come from various sources, but Tata Motors has not officially confirmed them. So, it’s possible that some of this information might not be accurate. We’ll need to wait for Tata Motors to make an official announcement to be sure.
