On December 22, Prime Video announced a new show called ‘Wedding.con.’ This show, directed by Tanuja Chandra, is about real-life stories and falls under the true-crime genre. It will be available exclusively on Prime Video starting December 29.

The series talks about five women who are looking for love and a good relationship. Unfortunately, their search for the right life partner takes a sad turn. They become victims of fraud by people pretending to be someone they’re not. These conmen create fake identities and act like they are suitable husbands on online platforms. This leaves the women feeling betrayed.

The show wants to bring attention to these scams and encourage people to be aware and take action. The five episodes in this series show how women, in their search for companionship, can become easy targets for deceptive schemes.

Aparna Purohit, who heads Originals at Prime Video for India and Southeast Asia, said, “Wedding.con is a strong commitment from us. It tells real stories, not just as a warning but also to inform and educate people about online matrimonial fraud. This type of crime is not talked about enough. It’s important to shine a light on it. We’re happy to work with BBC Studios India Production and Tanuja Chandra, and we believe viewers will find this series engaging and enlightening.”
