Last year, the boss of Tesla, Elon Musk, announced Twitter Blue – a special feature that you have to pay for to get a blue tick on your Twitter account. Mark Zuckerberg then launched Meta paid verification for Instagram and Facebook. This new feature is called “Meta Verified” and will cost you $11.99 a month if you use it on the web, or $14.99 a month if you use it on your iPhone or Android phone.

Before this, getting a blue tick on Instagram and Facebook was something that happened naturally. Only real accounts of famous people like politicians, sports stars and journalists were verified. With Meta paid verification, there will be no changes to the accounts that were already verified. This new feature is available in Australia and New Zealand right now, and will be in other countries soon. Anyone can buy it, but it’s not available for businesses yet.

Elon Musk was the first to start the verification model for Twitter, and it’s available on both iOS and Android devices. Twitter Blue costs Rs 650 on the web and Rs 900 on Android/Apple devices per month in India.

Meta Verified will help keep accounts safe and authentic by making sure users have a government ID to verify their identity. To get the paid verification, users have to make sure that their username matches their government-approved document. They also have to use their own picture on their profile picture. Those who choose to pay for verification will get a blue tick, customer support and increased visibility on their posts.

Other social media platforms have also introduced paid versions. Snapchat Plus, which costs $3.99 per month, lets users get a badge on their profile, see who has re-watched their stories and mark selected people as BFFs. Telegram Premium, which costs Rs 460 a month, offers a profile badge, larger and quick file sharing support, an integrated audio-to-text message converter and an animated profile picture.

Twitter Blue offers more benefits than just a blue tick, like fewer ads, the ability to edit tweets and post longer and high-resolution videos.
