Rajkumar Hirani is known for making movies with important messages, like Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai, 3 Idiots, or PK. Now, there’s Dunki, his first-ever film with Shah Rukh Khan. Hirani, talking about how this was a long-time dream come true, praised Shah Rukh for being ‘brave.’ Even though Shah Rukh knew that ‘mass films’ were doing well at the box office, he still chose Dunki.

In an interview with X, Hirani said, “Absolutely, SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) is a very brave actor. He knew that mass films are working well recently, but he chose to do Dunki. It’s not just about box office collections every time; we wanted to share a great social message, and luckily, we succeeded in this mission. The film is doing really well at the box office, and people are loving and appreciating Dunki. I’m very happy about it.”

Responding to a clip from his recent interview with ANI, where he praised Shah Rukh, Hirani expressed his joy, “You always want to make a movie with a meaningful and good story. Shah Rukh liked the story from the beginning. After doing action movies, as an actor, he also wanted to do something different, and this is the reason he was very involved and happy about it. I also wanted to work with SRK for so long, and, for me, that wish came true. Finally, we worked together, and it was a lot of fun.”

Dunki explores ‘Donkey Flight,’ an illegal way people use to enter countries like the US, UK, and Canada. The movie features Shah Rukh along with Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Grover, Boman Irani, and Vikram Kochhar. Released on December 21, Dunki is doing well at the box office despite competing with Prabhas’ Salaar: Cease Fire – Part 1, which is also performing exceptionally.
