Abhishek Banerjee is currently enjoying a unique experience at the box office, as he stars in two films that have vastly different outcomes. While “Stree 2,” featuring Shraddha Kapoor, is on the verge of crossing the ₹300 crore mark, John Abraham’s “Vedaa” has only managed to collect ₹52 lakh. Abhishek describes this as a bittersweet moment in his career. In an interview with News18, he praised “Vedaa” for its quality and audience reception but acknowledged that “Stree 2” has become an unstoppable force at the box office.

Abhishek explained that commercial success is crucial for those involved in filmmaking, as it enables them to pursue projects that may not have broad market appeal. He remarked, “Commercial films give you more power to make artistic films.” He cited the success of films like Aamir Khan’s “Laapataa Ladies” and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “12th Fail” as examples of how commercial achievements can empower filmmakers to explore diverse genres.

Abhishek also noted that “Stree 2” has played a significant role in revitalizing theatre audiences, who usually turn out in large numbers only for big stars like Shah Rukh Khan. He expressed his delight in seeing people react enthusiastically to his film, saying, “It’s a clear indication that they want good films, good direction, and good acting.”

The success of “Stree 2” has already had a positive impact on Abhishek’s career, as he is now receiving offers for lead roles, something he hadn’t experienced before. He emphasized that commercial success matters to him, stating, “I care about it. Even during my theatre days, my friends would say, ‘Tu bada commercial hai.’”

Abhishek concludes by reaffirming his passion for commercial cinema and his desire to entertain audiences, while also maintaining a balance by working on meaningful, smaller projects like “Stolen.” The actor’s journey reflects his commitment to delivering quality content across different platforms and genres.
